Starting from June 30, 2026, the compliance policy for lithium battery powered household appliances on Amazon's US and Canada sites will be officially implemented. On August 30, 2026, all ASINs that have not completed verification will be forcibly taken down and FBA inventory will be locked.

Household appliances powered by lithium batteries

Definition

Lithium battery-powered household appliances refer to home devices powered by rechargeable batteries, including the following three types of battery-powered products:

- Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) rechargeable batteries
- Lithium polymer (LiPo) rechargeable batteries
- Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) rechargeable batteries

If you sell any of the above lithium battery-powered household appliances on Amazon US or Canada marketplace, you must complete the specified compliance requirements upon receiving a platform notification; otherwise, you will no longer be able to continue selling.

Involves Product Types

Kitchen Appliances: Blender, Mixer, Juicer, Food Processor, Slicer, Meat Grinder, Grinder, Electric Knife, Milk Frother, Salt and Pepper Grinder, etc. Fans: Table Fan, Garage Fan, Camping Fan, Patio Fan, Portable Rechargeable Fan, etc.

Air/Environment Equipment: Air Purifier, Humidifier, Dehumidifier, etc.

Personal Care: Curling Brush, Hair Curler, Hair Straightener, Hair Dryer, etc.

Cleaning Equipment: Vacuum Cleaner, Floor Washer, Floor Scrubber, Floor Steam Cleaner, etc.

Not Involving Product Types

The following products are not within the scope of this compliance requirement:

Electrical appliances powered by nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) or nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries

Electrical appliances powered by non-rechargeable batteries

Electrical appliances powered by AC electricity

Heavy-duty commercial appliances, power tools, gardening and lawn care products

Smart digital devices such as mobile phones, tablets, music players, and speakers

Small household appliances such as clocks, remote controls, timers, body scales, and food scales

Amazon's compliance requirements for each site

All lithium battery-powered household appliances must comply with the corresponding category-specific UL/CSA standards. The use of generic standards, application of reports from other categories, or mismatched standards will result in audit failure.

A test report issued by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory within the past 12 months is required to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.

Verify product scope: Confirm whether the products sold in the US/Canada station belong to the controlled category and whether the power supply batteries are lithium batteries.

Check existing testing reports: If there are existing testing reports, verify if they are within the validity period of December, corresponding category standards, and battery matching UN38.3 documents.

Contact testing service provider: If there is no report, please contact the testing service provider immediately, send samples for testing, and reserve sufficient testing time.

Submit authentication: Verify through a third-party service provider authorized by Amazon.

Complete enhanced compliance (US site): Submit Certificate of Insurance (COI).

Improve product detail page: Ensure accurate and complete information such as model/part number, manufacturer/brand name, etc.
