◉ Introduction to Italian Food Contact Materials Regulations
Italian DM 21373 The Italian regulation applicable to materials in contact with food is Italian Decree No. 777 of 1982, which covers (Ministerial Decree) Ministerial Decree DM 21373 and subsequent updates as statutory requirements for food contact materials.
Italian food grade requirements for plastic materials are in line with the requirements of EU Directive 2002/72/EC. In addition, the decree has some national requirements, such as: rubber, silicone, glass and stainless steel are outside the scope of the EU decree, but the Italian decree makes specific requirements.
Italy has developed a list of approved stainless steel materials: only the stainless steel materials listed in the list are used for the purpose of contacting food, and the material must meet the purity standard and pass the food contact test and meet the requirements listed in DM 21373.

Tableware: bowls, cups, cutlery, spoons, pots, plates, plates, chopsticks, trays, napkins, straws, etc.;
Kitchen utensils: knives, pots, shovels, pots, peelers, grills/forks, etc.;
Kitchen appliances: juicer, soymilk maker, coffee machine, kettle, oven, microwave oven, rice cooker, disinfection cabinet, dishwasher, mixer, toaster, range hood, gas stove, induction cooker, etc.;
Food packaging materials: fresh-keeping film, fresh-keeping bags, fresh-keeping boxes, storage jars, seasoning bottles, airtight jars, tablecloths, paper, etc.;
Children's products: feeding bottles, pacifiers, teeth grinders, thermos cups, milk warmers, complementary food cooking tools, etc.
Other products that are in direct contact with or may come into contact with food are involved in the test scope of DM21371.
