◉ Introduction to Environmental Noise in Urban Areas
Environmental noise in urban areas: refers to the maximum limit of environmental noise in five types of urban areas.
Urban regional noise monitoring includes: urban regional environmental noise monitoring, urban traffic noise monitoring, long-term monitoring of urban environmental noise, and investigation and testing of disturbing noise sources in the urban environment.
◉ Scope of Application
Category 0 standards are applicable to areas that require quietness, such as convalescent areas, high-end villa areas, and high-end hotel areas.
Category 1 standards apply to areas dominated by residential, cultural and educational institutions. Refers to the main functions of residential, medical and health care, culture and education, scientific research and design, and administrative offices. Rural living environment can refer to the implementation of such standards.
Category 2 standards apply to mixed residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Refers to areas with commercial finance, market trade as the main function, or mixed residential, commercial, and industrial areas that need to maintain a quiet residence.
Category 3 standards apply to industrial areas. It refers to the area where industrial production, warehousing and logistics are the main functions, and it is necessary to prevent industrial noise from having a serious impact on the surrounding environment.
Category 4 standards are applicable to the areas on both sides of the main road of road traffic in the city, and the areas on both sides of the inland waterway passing through the urban area. Refers to the area within a certain distance on both sides of the main traffic line, where it is necessary to prevent traffic noise from having a serious impact on the surrounding environment, including two types: 4a and 4b. Category 4a includes expressways, first-class highways, second-class highways, urban expressways, urban trunk roads, urban secondary trunk roads, urban rail transit (ground section), and areas on both sides of inland waterways; category 4b refers to areas on both sides of railway trunk lines.

Urban planning areas are defined as urban areas, suburban areas and other areas within the urban administrative area that are subject to planning and control due to urban construction and development needs.

Village refers to other areas other than urban planning areas, such as villages, market towns, etc.
