◉ Certification Introduction
IRAM was established in 1935. It is a certification body for electronic technology products recognized by OAA (Argentina Accreditation Organization) and a certification body for compulsory certification products recognized by the government. On March 28, 2018, a new resolution 169/2018 was published in the Official Gazette of Argentina, which stipulates that for alternating currents between 50 v and 1000 v, for direct currents between 75 v and 1500 v, and for powers within 5KVA, Compulsory certification is required for electronic and electrical equipment with installation materials within 63A.
◉ Certified Products
Electronic and electrical products, toys, personal protective equipment, elevators, lighters, children's bicycles, construction steel, etc.
◉ Authentication Mode
(1) S-Mark certification
To obtain the S-Mark certification mark, in addition to requiring testing of samples, factory inspections and annual audits are also required. Manufacturers or importers who have obtained the S-Mark certification mark are required to conduct sampling tests at any accredited Argentine laboratory every year, and the first verification must be carried out within 180 days of obtaining the S-Mark certification mark, and then once a year.
The S-Mark certification mark issued by the IRAM Institute varies according to the applicable standard.

(2) Type Approval
Type approval is based only on testing of samples, no factory inspection is required. Products that have passed the test can be marked with the type certification mark.
The Type Approval Certificate must be issued by an OAA-accredited body. In order to maintain the validity of the certificate, the first verification must be carried out within 90 days of obtaining the type approval. Also, manufacturers or importers who have obtained type approval are required to conduct sampling tests at any accredited Argentine laboratory every 6 months. Type approval marks are as follows.

(3) Batch certification
Batch certification is the testing of samples taken from each batch of product manufactured or imported without the need for factory inspection. All products in the batch that have passed the test can be marked with the batch certification mark, and the certification number and batch number must be printed clearly and unremovably.
The test standard for batch certification refers to the Argentine standard IRAM15 (similar to the standard MIL105). The number of test samples is determined by the testing agency based on the size, characteristics and similarity of manufactured or imported products. Batch certification marks are as follows.

(4) Comparison of three authentication modes

◉ Certification Process
According to Resolution 92/1998, the mandatory safety certification of electrical and electronic products includes six steps:
(1) Define the certification mode: use logo certification or type certification or batch certification;
(2) Apply for certification;
(3) Test products or provide previous test reports;
(4) If required by the certification mode, carry out factory inspection;
(5) Issue the corresponding certification certificate;
(6) Supervision and inspection after the certificate is obtained.
◉ Authentication Information
(1) CB safety test report plus CB certificate, or IEC test report in English plus Argentina's national requirements
(2) Application for additional documents
(3) Specifications of design drawings, circuit diagrams, temperature curves, and detailed list of measuring equipment
(4) Product photos
(5) Safety warnings in Spanish are printed on the inscription plate
(6) Spanish manual
(7) Factory inspection report
