◉ Introduction of Banned Azo Dyes
Certain azo dyes used in garment printing and dyeing work clothes. Decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes refer to dyes that decompose carcinogenic aromatic amines by reduction reaction under certain conditions. Decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes belong to azo dyes, and the molecular structure contains azo groups (-N=N-). Not all azo dyes are dangerous, only those that produce carcinogenic aromatic amines are dangerous to humans. At present, the number of carcinogenic aromatic amines recognized at home and abroad is 24, involving more than 200 kinds of azo dyes. It should be noted that azo dyes are the most diverse type of synthetic dyes. They have the characteristics of wide chromatographic range, complete color varieties, good shade and high color fastness. They are widely used in the dyeing of various fibers. Nitrogen dyes only account for about 5% of all azo dyes, and not all azo dyes are banned dyes.
With the promulgation of EU regulations for banning azo dyes and the implementation of my country's mandatory national standard GB 18401-2003 "National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products", decomposable aromatic and carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes have become the most important in the international and domestic production and trade of textile and clothing. One of the important monitoring indicators.

◉ Harm
Banned azo dyes are a small category of azo dyes, which are widely used in the dyeing of textiles, clothing, leather and other products in the market. After the textiles, clothing or other consumer products dyed with decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes have been in contact with human skin for a long time, under the conditions of biochemical reactions that occur in the normal metabolic process of the human body, reduction reactions may occur and decompose to form carcinogenic aromatic amines. After a series of activation effects And change the DNA structure of human cells, causing human disease and inducing cancer.
◉ Test Standard
Different from the characteristics of formaldehyde, which is easy to distinguish and dissolve in water, the decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes in textiles are insoluble in water, colorless and odorless, so they cannot be distinguished from their appearance, and can only be found through technical inspection.
At present, gas chromatography and liquid chromatography are mainly used to detect banned azo dyes. The relevant domestic testing standards include GB/T 17592-2011 "Determination of Banned Azo Dyes in Textiles" and GB/T 23344-2009 "Textiles 4- "Determination of Aminoazobenzene", etc., generally test according to GB/T 17592 first, when aniline and/or 1,4-phenylenediamine are detected, then test according to GB/T 23344.
In addition, my country's mandatory national standard GB 18401-2010 "National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products" stipulates that decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes are prohibited in textile products, and the limit value of carcinogenic aromatic amines is ≤ 20 mg/kg.
