◉ Certification Introduction
Certification introduction UKCA is the abbreviation of UK Conformity Assessment (UK Conformity Assessed). According to a guidance document published by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on 1 September 2020, from 1 January 2021 the UKCA mark becomes the new UK Conformity Assessment Mark (for Great Britain, namely England, Wales and Scotland ). The UKCA mark cannot be used for products placed on the Northern Ireland market, which require the use of the CE mark or both the CE mark and the UK(NI) mark.
On August 1, 2023, the UK Department of Commerce and Trade announced an indefinite extension of the time for businesses to use the "CE" logo and an indefinite recognition of the "CE" logo. The recognition of the CE mark will be extended indefinitely after the deadline in 2024. This delay will reduce the cost of the enterprise and the time required for the product to be launched on the market, meeting the requirements of reducing the burden on the enterprise and promoting economic growth in the UK. Providing flexibility for enterprises, they can also choose to use UKCA or CE to sell products in the UK.
The UKCA mark is applicable to most commodities covered by the CE mark. The technical requirements, conformity assessment process, standards, and self-declaration of conformity that the product must meet are basically the same as the CE mark certification.
◉ Certification Mark
1. The UKCA marking applies to most (but not all) products of the current CE marking scheme.
2. The rules of the UKCA logo basically copy the CE logo rules of the EU. That is: the UKCA logo is also based on the principle of the manufacturer's declaration of conformity. Products that can be CE marked based on self-declaration can also be marked with UKCA based on self-declaration.
3. Products marked by UKCA are only applicable to the UK market. Products that currently require CE marking will continue to use the CE marking when entering the EU market.
4. The rules for using the UKCA mark are the same as the CE mark: that is, it must be marked on the product by the manufacturer or its representative, no less than 5mm, to ensure clear visibility, must be based on a full set of technical documents and UKDoC, and can be presented to the authorities at any time.

Products covered by the UKCA mark include low voltage electrical equipment, electromagnetic compatibility, gas appliances, toy safety, leisure craft and personal watercraft, simple pressure vessels, non-automatic weighing instruments, measuring instruments, lifts, ATEX, radio equipment, pressure equipment, personal Protective equipment, machinery, outdoor noise, eco-design, aerosols, restriction of hazardous substances, etc.
Products subject to the special rules of UKCA marking include four categories: medical equipment, railway-related products, construction products and civil explosives.
◉ UKCA Certification Process
The UKCA certification process is the same as the EU CE certification process, generally divided into the following six steps:
(1) Determine the applicable UK regulations and standards
(2) Self-verification of product compliance
(3) Determine whether conformity assessment by a UK Notified Body is required
(4) Check the conformity of products
(5) Save the required technical documents
(6) The product is affixed with the UKCA logo and the UKCA DoC is issued
