The purpose of establishing a unified regulatory system for food contact materials in the EU is to protect the health of consumers and eliminate unnecessary trade barriers.
The management of food contact materials in the EU includes three types of framework regulations, special regulations and separate regulations. The framework regulations stipulate the general principles for the management of food contact materials, the special regulations stipulate the special requirements for each type of substances listed in the framework regulations, and the individual regulations are specific regulations for a single substance.
The EU's safety management and legislation on food contact materials started with the 76/893/EEC Directive in 1976. Since its development, it has formed a regulatory system with different levels and covering a variety of materials. ◉ EU Test Process
(1) Consultation - the applicant provides product information pictures and descriptions to the testing agency
(2) Quotation --- According to the information provided by the applicant, the engineer of the testing agency will make an evaluation, determine the items to be tested, and make a quotation to the applicant
(3) After accepting the oral quotation, the applicant fills in the test application form and submits the test samples to the testing agency
(4) The testing agency will issue a written quotation to the applicant after receiving the application form and samples, and the applicant will arrange payment according to the written quotation.
(5) Sample testing - testing will be conducted in accordance with the applicable standard
(6) After the test is completed, the laboratory will issue the relevant EU food contact material test report
(7) Reports and invoices will be mailed after the project is over - case closed
