The New Zealand government has approved amendments to the Energy Efficiency (Energy Consuming Products) Regulations 2002, which require 10 types of products, including heat pumps, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers, to meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labeling (MEPL) requirements. The new regulations will officially come into effect on May 1, 2026. At that time, all regulated products manufactured or imported within New Zealand must complete registration and meet relevant energy efficiency requirements before they can be put on the market for sale.
On May 1, 2026, two national standards for smart home appliances were officially implemented. GB/T 28219.1-2025 "Technical Requirements and Evaluation of Intelligent Home Appliances - Part 1: General Requirements" and GB/T 46505.1-2025 "Application Scenarios of Intelligent Home Appliances - Part 1: General Requirements" are two national standards that clearly define intelligent home appliances from two key dimensions: "intelligent capability" and "scenario effect". They establish a unified evaluation standard for intelligent home appliances, establish a quantitative grading system, end the chaos of "pseudo intelligence", and safeguard the healthy development of intelligent home appliances.
Starting from August 1, 2026, the GB/T 4706 series of 3C safety standards for household appliances will be mandatory. This article mainly focuses on the special requirements of GB/T 4706.32-2024, combined with the general requirements of GB/T 4706.1-2024, and specifically interprets the relevant requirements for CCC version replacement of heat pumps, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers.
