The South African government has officially implemented a Pre Shipment Verification of Conformity (PVoC) program for 25 categories of high-risk unregulated products from China, which will be mandatory from September 20, 2026. Importers are required to have their goods inspected, tested, and certified by a recognized conformity assessment agency prior to shipment, and to obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for shipment with the goods. The CoC must be presented upon arrival at the port for customs clearance.

The new version of ISO 9001:2026 "Quality Management System Requirements" was officially released on September 16, 2026, with a 3-year transition period until September 15, 2029. During this period, companies can complete the version change through supervision audits or re certification audits. After September 15, 2029, all 2015 certificates will become completely invalid, and companies must hold the 2026 certification certificate.

On August 28, 2026, South Africa issued a notice revising the Mandatory Specification for Energy Efficiency and Labeling of Electrical/Electronic Appliances (VC 9008), requiring all electrical or electronic appliances to comply with the latest energy efficiency standards and labeling requirements issued by the South African Department of Electricity and Energy (DEE).
