◉ Certification Introduction
BIS is the abbreviation of Bureau of Indian Standards (BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS), which is a third-party certification body. Products that pass its certification will be marked with ISI label. Reliable guarantee of product quality. Once the product is marked with the "ISI mark", it means that it meets the relevant Indian standards, and consumers can buy it with confidence.
According to different product types, BIS certification is divided into three types, including mandatory ISI mark certification, CRS certification, and voluntary certification. The BIS certification system has existed for more than 50 years, covering more than 1,000 products. All products included in the mandatory list must obtain BIS certification (ISI mark registration certification) before they can be sold in India.

Currently BIS certification is divided into three categories:
1. Mandatory ISI mark type certification (product test + initial factory inspection + post-certification supervision), mainly including cement, food, automobile parts, steel products and other categories;
2. BIS Compulsory Registration System (CRS) (product testing + post-certification supervision), mainly including tablet computers, microwave ovens, wireless keyboards, printer power adapters, LED lights, lithium batteries, mobile power, mobile phones and smart card readers, Uninterruptible power supply/inverter of ≤10kVA, rear projection/LCD/LED TV of 32 inches and below, etc.;
3. The rest are BIS voluntary certification, and products other than compulsory mark certification and registration certification can be applied for.

In 2012, India issued the first batch of BIS-CRS Mandatory Orders known as Electronic and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012, in The decree stipulates the catalogue of products that are obliged to comply with the registration scheme, the principle of division of series models and the requirements for key components. There are currently 63 electronic and information technology products covered under this compliant registration scheme, including a small number of home appliances. All products that are exported to the Indian market within the scope of the compulsory catalog must obtain the BIS-CRS approval certificate before they can be sold in the Indian market without barriers.

According to the requirements of Scheme - I (ISI Mark Scheme), the manufacturing factory applying for this certification needs to meet the Scheme of Inspection and Testing of the corresponding standard, and the Indian auditor shall audit the manufacturing factory according to the Scheme of Inspection and Testing of the corresponding standard, and The relevant samples can only obtain the Certification License issued by BIS after passing the test of the local authorized and licensed laboratory in India.
2. BIS-CRS registration mode and process
According to the latest 2018 compliant registration program regulation (BIS-CRS Conformity Assessment Regulation 2018), manufacturers must comply with the regulatory requirements for product testing and the process of approval certificate registration in order to obtain an approval letter issued by BIS.
The test is performed by an authorized and licensed laboratory in India and requires a legally registered company in India as the authorized representative of the application. After the test is completed, the corresponding registration information is provided for certificate registration. BIS will review the information within 15 working days after receiving the information, and issue an approval letter. The first certificate is valid for 2 years.
