Introduction to market access in South Africa - household refrigerators

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of South Africa has officially released the mandatory specification VC9008 in 2014, and started to implement the mandatory energy efficiency labeling plan for electronic and electrical products, covering refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and other household appliances. It will be enforced from August 28, 2015. Since the mandatory date, when applying for the South African LOA certificate, regulated products need to submit safety test report and energy efficiency test report to the South African Compulsory Regulation Authority (NRCS). All products circulating in the South African market must obtain the LOA certificate and be labeled with energy efficiency.
