Effective from May 1st! The new national standard for "Air Purifier" has arrived, let's take a look at the revision!
The new national standard "Air Purifier" (GB/T 18801-2022) will replace the old national standard GB/T 18801-2015 and will be implemented from May 1, 2023. This is the third revision of this standard. The new national standard is applicable to household and similar air purifiers that have the ability to remove one or more of the above target pollutants, such as particulate matter, gaseous pollutants, microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses), odors, and allergens.
The new standard has made the following revisions based on the 2015 version:
(1) Established a reasonable corresponding interval between CADR and CCM
To improve the performance of air purifier products, standardize and simplify the labeling form; At the same time, the corresponding relationship between product optimization design and filter material was established to avoid misleading consumers with products with high initial performance indicators but relatively low lifespan. Therefore, based on statistical data, the CADR values of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants (formaldehyde) were correlated with CCM values.
(2) Pay attention to the current situation of air pollution in the home environment, and further improve the evaluation test methods for the removal performance of gaseous pollutants
The evaluation methods for the removal of single component and high concentration gaseous pollutants are relatively rare in actual home environments, which may lead to incorrect guidance for consumers and the improvement of purification technology, resulting in overly biased directionality in the removal of pollutants. This revision fully considers the actual use environment of air purifiers and improves the relevant experimental methods for the removal of gaseous pollutants based on multiple rounds of comparison data, A mixed loading test method for gaseous pollutants and a dynamic equilibrium test method have been proposed.
(3) Proposed a "removal rate" evaluation method to evaluate the purification ability of the purifier against viruses
Due to the unique nature of viruses, their natural extinction rate and purification process cannot be described by the dynamic equilibrium equation applicable to particulate pollutants, and CADR cannot be used as an evaluation index. Therefore, a "removal rate" evaluation method under specified conditions has been proposed. At the same time, in order to avoid secondary pollution after virus removal by the purifier, a warehouse transfer detection rate test method has been proposed.
(4) Proposed qualitative evaluation of "artificial olfactory discrimination" as a method for evaluating "odor concentration"
Due to the complexity and diversity of odor components, as well as the varying perception abilities of different populations, it is difficult to establish a corresponding relationship between instrument measurement data of odors and consumer senses. Therefore, this revision proposes to use "odor concentration" as an evaluation indicator and use "artificial olfactory identification" qualitative evaluation method to evaluate the secondary odors produced by air purifiers and their ability to remove odors.
(5) In addition to the above content, the revised version of the standard has also made modifications to the setting of indicators such as standby power and noise energy efficiency.
