KC certification is a mandatory safety certification in South Korea, covering electronic products and batteries. MOU mode can shorten the authentication cycle, but specific conditions must be met. The application requires KC form, specification sheet, CB certificate, etc. After the factory audit is approved, a certificate will be issued to allow Korean sales.
KC certification is a mandatory certification by the South Korean government to ensure the safety of electronic and consumer products, covering home appliances, audio and video, information technology, wireless devices, and daily necessities. It is necessary to follow Korean standards, obtain certification after testing, factory audit and other processes, mark that the product meets Korean safety and quality requirements, and allow sales in Korea. KC certification is a mandatory product certification system in South Korea that uses a unified KC certification logo. Battery products are within the scope of KC mandatory certification.

1. The MOU model is a convenient evidence collection model based on CB, which is applied after the signing of the MOU mutual recognition agreement between the CB system national certification body (NCB) and the Korean certification body under the framework of bilateral recognition between China and South Korea.
The main difference from the regular CB mode is that there is no need to send samples to South Korea, and the certification period can be significantly shortened.
2. The ESS energy storage system newly included in KC certification management is currently not suitable for the MOU mode based on CB to KC conversion. Samples need to be sent to a laboratory in South Korea for testing, and the testing time can be shortened if CB is available.
What are the application materials required for the MOU model?
1. KC Application Form (specified style)
2. Battery and Cell Specifications
3. CB certificates and reports for batteries and battery cells
4. List of key components and specifications (IC, Mosfet, fuse, etc.)
5. Korean instruction manual and nameplate
6. UN38.3 Report or Transportation Regulations Declaration (specified style)
7. Business License
8. Circuit diagram
9. Product photos, etc

Precautions for applying for KC
1. The battery KC applicant can be a factory or a Korean importer.
2. The manufacturer, model name, specification parameters, circuit diagram and other information recorded in the specification sheet must be consistent with the content recorded in CB, otherwise CB cannot be recognized.
3. The coding of IC, MOS and other components in the actual sample should be consistent with the coding schematic in the specification sheet.
4. The parameter range of the battery specification book cannot exceed the parameter limit range recorded in the cell specification book.
5. Korean KC issues certificates based on the minimum capacity standard.
For example, the minimum capacity of a battery cell is 1980mAh,
If the nominal capacity is 2000mAh, the battery needs to apply for KC certification based on 1980mAh, not 2000mAh.
6. In the case of derived models, the parameters of the derived models cannot exceed the specifications of the basic model, and the list of circuit diagram accessories should also be consistent with the basic model.
7. Factory audit:
For products that require mandatory certification, certification bodies will conduct audits of production factories to evaluate their quality management system, production capacity, and consistency control.
Initial factory audit: conducted during the initial certification to ensure that the factory has the ability to produce qualified products.
Annual supervision and audit: After the certification is issued, the certification body will conduct an annual supervision and audit to ensure continuous compliance with requirements.
8. Certificate issuance:
After testing and factory audit, the certification body will issue the KC certification certificate. Enterprises can use the KC logo on their products to indicate compliance with safety requirements in South Korea and allow them to be sold in the Korean market.
