Formally implemented on March 1st, 2026! Interpretation of Technical Points for the Mandatory New National Standard GB 4824-2025 on Electromagnetic Compatibility

The mandatory new national standard GB 4824-2025 "Limits and Measurement Methods for Radio Frequency Disturbance Characteristics of Industrial, Scientific and Medical Equipment" for electromagnetic compatibility will be officially implemented on March 1, 2026, fully replacing the old version GB 4824-2019.
GB 4824-2025 "Limits and Measurement Methods for Radio Frequency Disturbance Characteristics of Industrial, Scientific and Medical Equipment" will be officially implemented on March 1, 2026 and is a mandatory national standard. This standard is equivalent to CISPR 11:2024 and fully replaces the old version GB 4824-2019.
The new standard puts forward more specific and strict requirements in high-frequency harassment control, wired port harassment management, wireless function integration, robot equipment testing, and other aspects.

Applicable product scope
1. Applicable to industrial, scientific, and medical (hereinafter referred to as engineering and medical) electrical equipment with operating frequencies in the range of 0 Hz to 400 GHz, as well as household and similar appliances designed for generating and/or locally using radio frequency energy;
2. Applicable to engineering medical equipment with wireless transmission/reception functions (host devices with wireless functions), which are also within the scope of this document;
3. Applicable to engineering medical RF lighting equipment and ultraviolet irradiation equipment within the engineering medical frequency band defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) radio regulations;
4. Robots suitable for industrial, scientific, and medical applications.
Major technological changes
01. Expanded scope of application
New additions: Industrial robots (welding, spraying, handling, etc.) and medical robots (excluding household chores and toys).
New: Grid connected power converter (GCPC), covering photovoltaic power generation and energy storage system power equipment.
New: Conducted interference requirements for wired network ports (LAN, Cable TV, PSTN, etc., excluding USB/IEEE 1394).
Clear: Testing requirements for devices with built-in wireless functionality.
02. New definitions and abbreviations
Add 13 definitions including auxiliary equipment, equipment with wireless function, fundamental frequency, maximum internal frequency, industrial robots, medical robots, power conversion equipment, wireless devices, wireless modules, wireless transmitters, rated loads, robots, wired network ports, etc.
The definition of small test equipment has been modified from 1.2m × 1.5m to 1.5m × 1.5m.
Add 29 abbreviations.
03. Expansion of Radiation Disturbance Limits (Above 1 GHz)
New requirement: For Group 1 devices (low disturbance devices such as small medical equipment and laboratory instruments), new radiation disturbance limits in the frequency range of 1 GHz to 18 GHz should be added, coordinated with general standards such as CISPR 16 series.
Scope of Impact: Traditionally, Group 1 devices only need to meet radiation limits of 30 MHz to 1 GHz. The new regulations require testing in higher frequency bands, which may require the use of broadband horn antennas or high-frequency receivers. Put forward higher requirements for the shielding design and layout of products.
04. Conducted interference limits for wired network ports
New requirement: Introduce conducted disturbance limits for wired network ports of devices (such as Ethernet and industrial bus interfaces), consistent with common standards (such as CISPR 32).
Testing method: It is necessary to use a current probe or voltage method to measure common mode interference in the frequency range of 150 kHz to 30 MHz, with a focus on the interference caused by the coupling between the power supply and signal lines.
Purpose: To control the crosstalk between power and signal lines and improve the electromagnetic compatibility of the system.
05. EMC requirements for integrated wireless functional equipment
Clear scope: Host devices that include wireless transmission and reception functions (such as industrial controllers with Wi Fi/Bluetooth) must comply with the EMC requirements of CISPR 11, but intentionally emitted RF signals (such as Wi Fi communication frequency bands) and their spurious emissions are still exempt from ITU regulations.
Add Appendix F: The definition of intermodulation interference between wireless functions and host devices (such as nonlinear coupling between RF modules and motor drive circuits) needs to be included in the testing scope.
06. Definition and Testing Conditions of Robot Equipment
New definition: Clarify the types of robots in the industrial, scientific, and medical fields (such as welding robots, medical robots), excluding household/entertainment robots (belonging to other CISPR standards).
Special testing conditions:
1. Measurement arrangement: It is necessary to simulate the actual working state of the robot (such as dynamic motion trajectory, multi axis linkage).
2. Operation mode: It is necessary to test the maximum disturbance mode under typical loads (such as motor drive noise during high-speed motion).

Related enterprises need to pay special attention to changes in new standards, including but not limited to the following categories:
- Home appliance factories with wireless modules (microwave ovens, induction cookers, wall breaking machines)
- Industrial automation plant (welding machine, induction cooker, frequency conversion equipment)
- Medical equipment manufacturers (physiotherapy equipment, electromagnetic therapy equipment, etc.)
- New energy/robot/3C product manufacturers
The new national standard GB 4824-2025 for electromagnetic compatibility will be officially implemented on March 1, 2026.
