GB/T 15934-2024 "Electrical accessories - Wire assemblies and interconnecting wire assemblies", to be implemented from October 1, 2025

GB/T 15934-2024 "Electrical accessories - Wire assemblies and interconnecting wire assemblies" will be implemented on October 1, 2025. Wire assemblies belong to the CCC mandatory certification catalog (CNCA-C02-01) and must pass certification before being listed.

GB/T 15934-2024 "Electrical Accessories - Wire Components and Interconnected Wire Components" will be implemented on October 1, 2025. The new version of the national standard has revised, integrated, and fully replaced two old versions of the national standards, GB/T 15934-2008 "Electrical Accessories - Wire Components and Interconnected Wire Components" and GB/T 26219-2010 "Electrical Accessories - Y-shaped Wire Components and Y-shaped Interconnected Wire Components". The standards for wire components and Y-shaped wire components have been merged.

1、 Scope of application

This document specifies the requirements for wire components and interconnecting wire components used in household and similar equipment, including component requirements, overall component requirements, electrical continuity and polarity requirements.

This document applies to wire components and interconnecting wire components used in household and similar equipment.

This document does not apply to industrial wire components [with plugs and connectors that comply with GB/T 11918 (all parts) requirements], nor does it apply to extension cord sockets (wire extension components).

Note: According to the definition in this document, power cords with detachable plugs and connectors are not "wire components". However, considering that they are similar to "wire components" and have similar purposes, this power cord with detachable plugs and connectors should adopt the requirements of this document as much as possible.

Applicable Products

Wire component: A component composed of a flexible cable or cord with a non detachable plug and one or two non detachable connectors, used to connect electrical appliances or devices to a power source (such as a phone charger cable, rice cooker power cable).

Interconnected wire component: a component composed of a flexible cable or wire with a non detachable plug connector and one or two non detachable connectors, used to interconnect electrical appliances (such as signal connection wires between a display and a host).

Rated value: Voltage ≤ 250V AC, current ≤ 16A (applicable only for household and similar purposes).

Not applicable to products

Industrial plugs and sockets (such as GB/T 11918 series)

Appliance coupler (such as GB/T 17465 series)

Extension socket (such as GB/T 2099 series)

2、 Main technological changes

Changed the definition of wire components and added a type of wire component with two connectors (see 3.1 in the 2008 version);

Changed the definition of interconnect wire components and added a type of interconnect wire component with two connectors (see 3.2 in the 2008 version);

Added terms and definitions for wire components used for high ambient temperatures, Y-shaped wire components, interconnecting wire components used for high ambient temperatures, Y-shaped interconnecting wire components, non detachable wire accessories, and Y-shaped connectors (see 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.3, 3.6);

Changed the requirements for components (see 5.1 in the 2008 version);

Added the requirement for rated current of plug connectors (see 5.2.2);

Changed the classification reference standard for equipment's anti electric shock capability (see 5.2.3 in the 2008 version);

Changed the wire types of the wire components and interconnecting wire components (see Table 1 in the 2008 version);

The requirement for wire length has been removed (see 5.2.6 of the 2008 version);

Changed the inspection requirements for electrical continuity and polarity (see Chapter 6, 2008 edition of Chapter 6);

Modified the safety routine tests for the wire components and interconnecting wire components of the factory wiring (see Appendix A, 2008 edition of Appendix A);

Added requirements for Y-shaped joints (see Appendix B).
