Moldova will recognize equipment with CE marking without additional testing! Effective February 28, 2026

Time:

2025-10-20

Starting from February 28, 2026, Moldova will recognize radio equipment, electrical equipment, and electronic equipment bearing the CE mark and the EU Declaration of Conformity (EU DoC) to enter the local market without the need for additional testing.

In order to align with EU regulations, the Republic of Moldova revised Law No. 235/2011 on Certification and Conformity Assessment on August 28, 2025. This amendment specifically adjusts Article 31 of the law and specifies that radio equipment, electrical equipment, and electronic equipment that have completed the conformity assessment process by EU notified bodies, comply with EU directives, and have the CE mark and EU Declaration of Conformity (EU DoC) will be recognized within Moldova and can enter the local market without additional conformity assessment. The revised amendment will officially come into effect on February 28, 2026.

The CE mark is a product safety certification mark for the EU market, covering multiple fields such as electrical appliances, machinery, toys, medical devices, etc. As a candidate country for the European Union, Moldova has been actively promoting reforms in various fields since obtaining candidate status in June 2022 to meet the accession criteria.

This move will significantly reduce the cost and time for EU companies to enter the Moldovan market, simplify market access for European manufacturers, and alleviate the administrative burden on Moldovan importers. It will also help Moldovan consumers obtain more high-quality products that meet EU standards. Previously, even if the product had already met EU safety and performance standards, it still required repeated inspection or certification procedures upon arrival in Moldova. The new measures have eliminated these repetitive steps, reduced costs, and accelerated the time to market for compliant products.

The authorities emphasized that market regulation is still ongoing. Moldovan law enforcement agencies will reserve the right to verify documents and inspect products after they are launched to prevent fraudulent or non compliant imports. However, devices holding a legal CE mark will benefit from simplified entry procedures.

The Moldovan government sees this revision as part of its broader strategy aimed at aligning national regulations with EU norms and supporting economic integration under the commitments of the Joint Agreement and the Central European Free Trade Agreement. Starting from February 28, 2026, products can be imported and sold in the Republic of Moldova with the CE conformity mark and accompanying EU declaration of conformity.
