Jiayu Service | Interpretation of Kenya PVOC Certification

PVOC certification is the "passport" to enter the Kenyan market. Before controlling the export of goods to Kenya, PVOC inspection is required to obtain COC clearance certificate, otherwise customs clearance will not be possible.

Pre Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) is a mandatory regulatory system implemented by Kenya for imported products, supervised by the Kenyan National Standards Board (KEBS).

All controlled products must apply for PVOC inspection before shipment, and after verification that they meet the requirements, a Certificate of Conformity (COC) certificate will be issued. This certificate is a mandatory customs clearance document in Kenya. Goods without a valid COC certificate will face the risk of being unable to clear customs upon arrival at Kenyan ports, which may result in detention, return, and additional inspection fees or administrative penalties.
