Time:
2026-09-10
On September 7, 2026, the European Commission adopted a revised draft to include long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids, their salts, and related compounds LC PFCAs (C9-C21) in Part A of Annex I to the EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021.
On September 7, 2026, the European Commission adopted the draft amendment to include long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids and their salts and related compounds LC PFCAs (C9-C21) in Part A of Annex I to the EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2019/1021. The EU will subsequently officially publish the amending regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ), which will enter into force on the 20th day after its publication and will be directly applicable in all Member States at that time.

Compliance Recommendations
Previously, three substances including chlorpyrifos, long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acid, and medium chain chlorinated paraffins were simultaneously released for revision. Chlorpyrifos and long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acid have been approved successively, and currently only medium chain chlorinated paraffins MCCP are still under review. In recent years, the EU's POPs regulations have been updated frequently and enforcement efforts have been continuously strengthened. There have also been more and more cases of Chinese products being reported for violating POPs regulations when exporting to the EU. Enterprises should pay timely attention to regulatory developments, respond to adjustment strategies, ensure that products comply with new regulatory requirements, and reduce the risk of violations.
