Washington State proposes to limit lead in cooking utensils
In January 2023, the State of Washington proposed to limit lead and lead compounds in cooking utensils or their components.
According to the proposed regulations, "cooker" and "component" have the following meanings: "cooker" refers to any metal pan, pan, bread maker, rice cooker, pressure cooker and other containers and devices for preparing or storing food; "Component" refers to the separate or different parts of the cooker, including but not limited to cover, knob, handle and handle assembly, rivet, fastener, valve, exhaust pipe and other accessories.
