Air conditioner
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia SASO issued a draft technical regulation on the power consumption requirements of certain electrical and electronic equipment in standby and shutdown modes in January 2023. Air conditioning products are applicable to this draft.
Appendix 3 of the draft lists the relevant standards as follows:
● EN 50564 Electrical and electronic household and office equipment - Measurement of low power consumption (IEC 62301:2011 revised version)
● EN 50643 Measurement of networked standby power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment edge equipment
The draft is expected to be adopted on April 6, 2023 and take effect on July 1, 2024.
Thailand
EGAT held a meeting to discuss the decision to expand the scope of air conditioning products in the No. 5 label plan (add VRF/VRV air conditioning), and negotiated the preliminary implementation plan as follows:
● Before December 15, 2022, the manufacturer/importer shall provide the product specifications to EGAT for evaluation
● Within December 22, 2022, EGAT will complete the product evaluation and determine the test representative model
● At the beginning of January 2023, the manufacturer/importer began to send samples to the laboratory for testing
● From January to April 2023, the laboratory will conduct the test and submit the report to EGAT
● At the beginning of May 2023, EGAT held a meeting to discuss the energy efficiency standards of VRV/VRF air conditioners
● On May 15, 2023, the actual test will be started
● On December 15, 2023, products with EGAT No. 5 label will be launched on the market
However, the date of the first plan has been postponed, and EGAT may further update the corresponding implementation nodes.
