On June 14, 2023, ECHA officially added the 29th batch of 2 substances to the SVHC substance list, resulting in a total of 235 SVHC items.

On June 14, 2023, ECHA officially added the 29th batch of 2 substances to the SVHC substance list, resulting in a total of 235 SVHC items. The information on the two newly added substances is as follows:

Enzyme Commission number: 201-247-9

CAS number: 80-07-9

Reason for accession: strong persistence and strong Bioaccumulation (vPvB) (Article 57 (e))

Common uses: manufacturing of chemicals, plastic products, and rubber products.

Substance name: diphenyl (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) Phosphine oxide

Enzyme Commission number: 278-355-8

CAS number: 75980-60-8

Reason for addition: Reproductive toxicity (Article 57 (c))

Common uses: Used for inks and toners, coating products, photochemicals, polymers, adhesives and sealants, fillers, gypsum molding clay, etc.

SVHC is the English abbreviation for "Substance of Very High Concern", which refers to substances that pose risks to humans and the environment and are of high concern. According to REACH regulations, if the content of SVHC substance in an article exceeds 0.1% and the substance enters the EU more than 1 ton/year/company per year, the manufacturer or importer of the article must notify ECHA.

According to the Waste Framework Directive, starting from January 5, 2021, if the concentration of SVHC substances in goods placed on the European Union market exceeds 0.1%, enterprises are required to submit a SCIP notification, and the SCIP notification information will be published on the ECHA official website.
