Revised regulations for extraction solvents used in the production of food and food ingredients in Lithuania

On July 5, 2023, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania issued Announcement 2023-14044, amending the regulations on extraction solvents used in the production of food and food ingredients, and adding 2-methyloxyheterocyclopentane as the extraction solvent. Effective from September 1, 2023. Main content:

  • It is authorized to use 2-methyloxyheterocyclopentane as the extraction solvent for the production and extraction of fat, oil or Cocoa butter, and for the preparation of skim protein products, skim flour, and skim grain germ;
  • Add specific purity standard of 2-methyloxyheterocyclopentane.

Preparation of skimmed protein products and skimmed flour Degreasing product: 10mg/kg
Used for soybean products with degreasing effect: 30mg/kg
Preparation of fat removed grain puffer sprouts 5mg/kg in defatted grain puffer sprouts
