This health standard has a 2-month review period, which will be published in the EU's Official Journal and will officially come into effect on December 31, 2026.

The standard is mainly applicable to new water supply facilities or scenarios of renovating/repairing existing facilities. The product types governed by this standard mainly include components in water supply facilities, such as pipes, valves, pumps, water meters, accessories, and faucets. Glass bottles, plastic beverage bottles, straws, and other products that are not part of the fixed water supply system are not subject to this regulation.

The implementation of this standard aims to improve public drinking water safety and ensure drinking water quality, minimize microbial growth, and reduce the risk of harmful substances infiltrating drinking water. Materials and products that meet the new standards will be accompanied by an EU conformity declaration and EU specific identification, and can be circulated throughout the EU market.
