Rhode Island in the United States has proposed the H7356 Act, which aims to ban the use of PFAS in various consumer goods from January 1, 2027.

According to the bill, the following products manufactured, sold, or offered for sale in Rhode Island shall not contain any intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS): artificial turf, carpets, cookware, fabric treatment agents, youth products, menstrual products, ski wax, textiles.

 

In addition, the bill also proposes a reporting rule that, starting from January 1, 2028, if a product or its ingredients contain intentionally added PFAS, certain information will be disclosed to the public:

1. The name and type of product or ingredient containing intentionally added PFAS;

2. The universal product code or UPC of the product or its ingredients;

3. The purpose or function of using intentionally added PFAS in products or product ingredients;

4. The characteristics and quantities of all PFAS compounds in the product or product components;

5. The name and address of the manufacturer, as well as the name, address, and phone number of the manufacturer's contact person.
