Attention! Amazon Japan Site 4 Major Product Update Compliance Requirements

According to the latest news on Amazon's official website, starting from May 27, 2024, Japan Station will implement new compliance policies for four types of electronic and electrical products: projectors, ceiling lights and chandeliers, low-temperature pots, and electric blankets. Attention, relevant sellers! According to the category of products sold, please upload the relevant compliance documents to the Amazon platform before June 20, 2024, and only after approval can sales be made. On June 27, 2024, these four types of products on Amazon Japan that do not comply with the updated compliance policy will be delisted.

Introduction to regulations related to four types of products

Electrical Equipment and Material Safety Law

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification for electrical products in Japan, and is a mandatory market access system for electrical products in Japan. Usually, products and components connected to AC power sources for use may be regulated by the Electrical Equipment and Material Safety Law, which divides the regulatory objects into specific commodities (Class A): specific electrical products are designated as electrical products with a high probability of danger based on their structure or usage methods, and are electrical products that are used by vulnerable groups in society without monitoring for a long time and come into direct contact with the human body. For example: AC/DC power supply device AC adapter, extension power cord group, fuse, etc.

Non specific goods (Class B): Non specific electrical products refer to the 341 varieties left after removing 116 specific electrical products from the specified 457 varieties of electrical products. For example: TV receivers, electric cooling equipment, LED lights, refrigerators, and electric freezers.

Consumer Goods Safety Law

The Consumer Goods Safety Law applies to regulated consumer goods, which are classified as special and specific goods (Class A) from a risk perspective: the PSC diamond symbol represents specific goods, including baby cribs, portable laser application equipment, bathroom water circulation water heaters, lighters, and practical lighters.

Other specific products (Class B): The PSC circular logo represents other specific products, including: household pressure cookers and pressure cookers, cycling helmets (for two wheeled motor vehicles, electric bicycles), climbing ropes, petroleum water heaters, oil bath boilers, and fuel heating stoves.

Radio Law

All radio equipment sold on Japanese sites must undergo inspection by certification agencies to confirm whether it meets the technical standards of the Radio Law. If it meets the standards, a compliance certificate for technical regulatory compliance certification will be issued by the registered certification body.

The Technical Compliance Mark (GITEKI Mark) is mainly pasted on the radio equipment model name and manufacturing trademark identification plate. For wireless local area networks, this logo is mainly pasted on the bottom of fixed devices or on card type device identification signs. If the radio equipment sold does not have this logo affixed, there may be a violation of the Radio Law.
