Paper tableware and disposable plastic tableware will introduce new national standards, reminding food contact material enterprises to pay attention

The new standards for food contact materials, including "Paper tableware" and "General technical requirements for disposable plastic tableware", will be introduced to remind food contact material enterprises to pay attention.

Recently, the National Standardization Administration issued a notice on soliciting opinions on 15 recommended national standards (draft for approval), including the General Principles of Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) Quality, among which Paper Tableware and General Technical Requirements for Plastic Disposable Dining Utensils are relevant standards for food contact materials. The deadline for soliciting public opinions is September 16, 2024.

Paper tableware "will replace GB/T 27589-2011" Paper lunch boxes "and GB/T 27591-2011" Paper bowls ", mainly based on GB/T 27591-2011, integrating the content of GB/T 27589-2011. Compared with GB/T 27591-2011, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

Changed scope (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Added terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
Added product classification (see Chapter 4);
The requirement for raw materials has been removed (see 3.4 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Added internal quality requirements for paper drums, paper meal boxes, cardboard boxes, paper plates, and paper knives (forks, spoons) (see 5.1), as well as testing methods for size deviation, load-bearing performance, overall stiffness, bending resistance, box cover folding test, and grease resistance (see 6.2, 6.4, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, and 6.9);
Change the name of the "leakage performance" indicator to "temperature resistance performance" and modify the test method (see 5.1 and 6.11, 3.2 and 4.4 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Added requirements for water leakage, interior shortage, biodegradability, compostability, and compatibility (see 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.6) and corresponding test methods (6.10, 6.12, 6.13, and 6.14);
Changed the requirements for appearance quality (see 5.5, 3.1 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Deleted hygiene indicator requirements and test methods (see 3.3 and 4.6 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Deleted the raw material testing method (see 4.7 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Changed inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, and storage (see Chapter 7 and Chapter 8, Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 of GB/T 27591-2011);
Deleted the bending beam compression apparatus equipment in the compressive strength measurement method (see A.1.2 of GB/T 27591-2011).

The "General Technical Requirements for Plastic Disposable Tableware" will replace the relevant content of non degradable disposable tableware in GB/T 18006.1-2009 "General Technical Requirements for Plastic Disposable Tableware". Compared with the content of non degradable disposable tableware in GB/T 18006.1-2009, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

Changed scope (see Chapter 1, 2009 edition of Chapter 1);
Changed the definition of disposable tableware (see 3.1 in the 2009 version);
Changed classification (see Chapter 4, 2009 edition of Chapter 4);
Removed requirements for raw materials and additives (see 5.1 and 5.2 of the 2009 version);
Deleted the requirements and test methods for odor detection (see 5.3.1 and 6.1 of the 2009 version);
Change "temperature resistance performance" to "heat resistance performance" (see 5.3.5, 5.4.5 of the 2009 version);
Changed the load-bearing performance test method (see 6.4, 6.6 of the 2009 version);
Deleted the requirements and test methods for microwave resistance test (see 5.4.7 and 6.9 of the 2009 version);
Deleted hygiene physical and chemical indicators and experimental methods (see 5.8 and 6.13 of the 2009 edition);
Deleted microbial indicators and experimental methods (see 5.9 and 6.14 of the 2009 edition);
Added standard environmental requirements for sample state adjustment and testing (see 6.1).
