Time:
2024-10-07
GB/T19923-2024 Quality of Industrial Water for Municipal Wastewater Reuse will be implemented on October 1, 2024. The revision follows the principles of continuity, progressiveness, applicability, coverage, scalability, operability and flexibility, and adjusts the classification and indicators of water quality to meet the current water quality improvement and industrial water demand.
GB/T 19923-2024 "Industrial Water Quality for Urban Wastewater Reuse" will be implemented on October 1, 2024.

GB/T 19923-2024 replaces GB/T 19923-2005 and follows and reflects the following principles in the revision.
Continuity: GB/T 19923-2024 is a revision of GB/T 19923-2005 "Industrial Water Quality for Urban Wastewater Reuse". During the revision process, indicators and related content that have been proven to be in line with China's national conditions and can ensure industrial water safety over the past decade are retained to maintain the continuity of the standard.
Progressiveness: By referring to international standards and standards of advanced countries, the scientificity and progressiveness of the revised standards have been improved.
Applicability: In recent years, the effluent quality of urban sewage treatment plants on the supply side has significantly improved. Industrial enterprises that use recycled water have accumulated years of experience in operating recycled water. Some indicators in GB/T 19923-2005 are no longer applicable to the current effluent quality of sewage treatment plants and industrial water reuse. In order to further expand the industrial reuse of recycled water and promote the construction of a water-saving society, while ensuring the safety of industrial water use, the water quality classification has been simplified, and the water quality indicators have been adjusted to basic control items and selective control items; One indicator has been cancelled, three indicators have been added, and 16 indicator limits have been modified.
Coverage and scalability: This revision summarizes the water quality and treatment processes of urban sewage plants, reclaimed water plants, and industrial enterprises in recent years from a technical feasibility perspective, reflecting the maximum coverage; For the same water quality indicator, measurement methods for each control item have been proposed, taking into account the characteristics of the recycled water source and the existing testing methods of both the supply and demand sides. The specific method to be used can be agreed upon by both parties in the contract, reflecting the scalability and openness of the standard.
Operability: In order to enhance the operability of the revised standard, a chapter on "Sampling and Preservation" has been added, the measurement methods and execution standards for water quality indicators have been modified, the testing frequency of regulatory authorities has been adjusted, the principles for the use of recycled water have been supplemented, and the labeling requirements have been improved.
Flexibility: China has a vast territory, and there are significant differences in the ionicity indicators of water sources in various cities. The revised standard adjusts the industrial water quality indicators to general control indicators and selective control indicators, allowing both supply and demand sides to choose control based on local conditions.
