Multiple safety and energy efficiency related resolutions in Argentina have come into effect

Several safety and energy efficiency related resolutions in Argentina have come into effect. The new resolution updates the basic requirements for the quality and safety of electrical equipment, and manufacturers and importers must submit compliance statements and comply with the necessary compliance assessment procedures for selling products in Argentina.
On February 25, 2025, the Argentine Secretariat of Industry and Commerce successively issued resolutions 16/2025, 17/2025, and 26/2025, aimed at simplifying and eliminating any obstacles and restrictions that may hinder the normal operation of the market and domestic and foreign trade.
The new resolution updates the basic requirements for the quality and safety of electrical equipment, requiring manufacturers and importers to submit a declaration of conformity and comply with the necessary conformity assessment procedures for selling products in Argentina. Starting from October 1, 2025, relevant enterprises must affix conformity markings, namely conformity seals and QR codes, on their products or main packaging.

| Resolution No. 26/2025 | ·Revise the Building Materials Regulations (Resolution 236/2024) to expand the scope of application of the regulations. ·The revised energy efficiency regulations (Resolution No. 438/2024) aim to display product energy efficiency information to consumers on energy efficiency labels through QR codes. ·Extend the implementation of the new version of the conformity marking in the General Framework for Conformity Assessment (Resolution 237/2024) to October 1st. |

02. Starting from February 26, 2025, the following resolutions will no longer be valid (the original certificate was valid for 1 year)
Resolution No. 169/2018 on Electrical Safety;
Resolution 731/1987 on the labeling of power cords for Class I and Class II products;
Resolution No. 524/1998 on minimum safety conditions for plugs and sockets.

04. Basic requirements for the new version of the conformity certification mark
Placed in a prominent position on the product or its primary packaging;
Indestructible and permanently fixed under reasonable and foreseeable conditions of use;
Size requirements: Figure 1 is preferred. If the shape or size of the product cannot meet Figure 1, Figure 2 is allowed but must not be smaller than Figure 2;
The certification mark is allowed to be monochrome or two-color, and shall not overlap with other marks or seals that may mislead users, nor shall it replace other marks or seals required by current applicable regulations
