The Mexican government recently officially released the NOM-011-ENER-2024 standard, which sets new energy efficiency requirements for central, integral, and split air conditioners. This standard will officially come into effect on the 180th calendar day after October 26, 2025, replacing the NOM-011-ENER-2006 standard that has been in effect for nearly 20 years, marking an important step for Mexico in promoting energy conservation, emission reduction, and green cooling.
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources (MOTIE) of South Korea announced that it will revise energy efficiency management regulations and implement new energy efficiency requirements for electric washing machines, air conditioners (including refrigeration specific and cooling/heating types), electric heating and cooling integrated machines, and multi unit/air source heat pump systems from November 1, 2025; The relevant requirements for built-in ballast lamps will be implemented from December 31, 2025. According to the WTO/TBT notification, the deadline for the public and stakeholders to submit their opinions is September 28, 2025.

This revision is a routine upgrade of South Korea's "Energy Efficiency Level Labeling and Minimum Energy Efficiency Limits (MEPS)" system, with the goal of promoting the supply of efficient household appliances and lighting products, improving energy efficiency, and reducing emissions through stricter efficiency levels and testing methods. This system is issued by MOTIE in accordance with the Energy Utilization Rationalization Act, and the Korean industry is implemented and supervised by organizations such as the Energy Corporation. At the level of regulatory promotion, MOTIE previously issued an administrative notice for the revision of the "Regulations on the Use of Efficiency Management Equipment" through Announcement No. 2025-108; Recently, on August 13, 2025, the revised and publicized "Regulations on the Use of Efficiency Management Equipment" numbered 2025-145 were released, updating the overall framework and terms. Enterprises should follow the official announcements and appendices, and pay attention to the final text of the applicable scope, efficiency level classification, and corresponding testing methods for each category.
For manufacturers and importers, the key timeline is clear: requirements for washing machines, air conditioners, and heat pump products will be implemented from November 1, 2025, and built-in ballast lamps will be implemented from December 31, 2025; Prior to this, type testing and label updates should be completed, and the impact on product design, supply chain, and inventory switching should be evaluated.
