Starting from October 2025, TISI in Thailand will implement new mandatory standards for four categories of electronic and electrical products!

TISI, the Industrial Standards Institute of the Ministry of Industry of Thailand, has issued an important announcement that from October 1, 2025, TISI will implement new mandatory standards for four new categories of electronic and electrical products. This change means that related products must be TISI certified and affixed with the TISI logo in order to enter the Thai market for sale.

4 mandatory standards

Regarding TISI certification in Thailand

TISI certification is a mandatory or voluntary certification conducted by the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (Tisi) under the Industrial Product Standards Act to determine whether a product complies with Thai Industrial Standards (TIS standards).

Mandatory certification: Key products related to safety, health, and environmental protection, such as electrical equipment and accessories, daily consumer goods, medical equipment, building materials, etc., must pass TISI certification to enter the Thai market. Products that require mandatory certification must be applied for by the manufacturer or importer.

Voluntary certification: applicable to non mandatory products such as some household appliances, textiles, etc. Enterprises can voluntarily apply to enhance market competitiveness. Voluntary certification can only be applied for by local manufacturers and cannot be applied for by foreign manufacturers.

The purpose of TISI certification is to improve product quality, ensure consumer safety, promote trade, and coordinate consistency with international standards such as ISO and IEC. Certified products must be marked with the TISI logo and indicate the certification number. The certification process includes steps such as application submission, product testing, factory review, and certification approval.
