Taiwan BSMI announced that the new energy efficiency classification policy for air purifiers will be added on January 1, 2023
The Bureau of Standards, Metrology&Inspection ("BSM" for short) of the Ministry of Economy of Taiwan, China, China announced that the energy efficiency classification policy for air purifier products will be added on January 1, 2023.
The new energy efficiency grading policy for air purifier products in this announcement indicates that it must comply with the inspection standard CNS 16,098 (version 219), in which energy efficiency grading and clean air supply rate (CASR) will be the focus of this time.
Understand the clean air supply rate (CASR) to make the product more competitive
The full name of CASR is Clean Air Supply Rate, and it is called "clean air supply rate" in Chinese, which means the number of cubic meters that can be purified per minute. This value is the purification efficiency of the machine and can be used to judge how much space the product is suitable for. It is mentioned in Article 6.8 of CNS 16098 that: CASR value * 5.19=indoor area applicable to air purifier, that is, the larger the CASR value is, the larger the space applicable to purifier products is.
Grading of energy efficiency and re evolution of energy conservation
The calculation formula of energy efficiency is: CASR value/operating power (W). The calculated value is the product grade. The smaller the number of energy efficiency grade, the more energy saving the product.

Under any of the following circumstances, the commodities to be inspected shall not be included:
- Rated and measured clean air supply rate is lower than 0.26 or higher than 12.8
- The principle of air purification is only pure ozone, ultraviolet ray or photocatalyst
- The body with USB port has a DC 5V input voltage and no power converter attached. It only uses the vehicle power supply and is attached with the vehicle cigarette lighting power supply or only uses three-phase voltage or simple dry battery as the power supply
