National Health Commission Announces 6 New Varieties of Food Contact Materials and Products

The National Health Commission (NHC) of the People's Republic of China has issued Announcement No. 3 of 2023, approving six substances for use in food contact materials and items. This notice has taken effect. The usage conditions of the substance are as follows:

A. New Varieties of Additives for Food Contact Materials and Products

B. New Varieties of Resin for Food Contact Materials and Products

Block copolymer of hydrogenated dimeric C18 unsaturated fat acid with 1,4-butanediol, ethylene glycol, terephthalic acid and 2-ethyl-2 - (hydroxymethyl) - 1,3-propanediol; Block copolymer of hydrogenated dimeric C18 unsaturated fat acid with 1,4-butanediol, ethylene glycol, terephthalic acid and trimethylolpropane	-	plastics	-	0.05 [calculated as the sum of hydrogenated dimer C18 unsaturated fat acid and hydrogenated unsaturated fat acid (C18) dimer]; 5 (calculated as 1,4-butanediol); 30 (calculated by ethylene glycol); 7.5 (calculated by terephthalic acid); 6 (Trimethylolpropane)	Plastic films produced from this substance shall not come into direct contact with food, and the thickness shall not exceed 10 μ m. The usage temperature shall not exceed 130 ℃ and shall not be used for the production of contact materials and products specifically designed for infants and young children. The above restricted usage requirements should be marked in accordance with the provisions of GB 4806.1.
