Kuwait delays implementation of four mandatory energy efficiency standards and launches new energy efficiency registration platform

Time:

2024-12-16

Kuwait has postponed four energy efficiency standards until March 1, 2025, and launched a new EER energy efficiency registration platform that covers a variety of household appliances and simplifies the registration process. Manufacturers are required to affix EER labels before implementation, and old platforms are not allowed to be used. The compliance requirements for air conditioning remain unchanged.

Recently, Kuwait issued Ministerial Decree No. 24/2024, which postponed the mandatory implementation date of the following four new energy efficiency standards in Kuwait until March 1, 2025:

  • KWS 1897: Efficiency level of rotating motor - AC motor
  • KWS 1899: Electric washing machines - Energy and water performance requirements and labeling
  • KWS 1898: Electric Dryers - Energy Performance Requirements and Labels
  • KWS 1900: Refrigerators, refrigerated freezers, and freezers - Energy performance, testing, and labeling requirements

Manufacturers and exporters shipping air conditioners, motors, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and freezers to Kuwait should also pay attention to the following important updates:

TABEK launches new EER platform:

The new EER energy efficiency registration platform on the Kuwait TABEK website has been officially launched. The platform covers air conditioners, motors, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and freezers, simplifying product registration, label issuance, technical review, and fee payment to ensure efficient compliance. Once the test report files and product labels meet the requirements of the new standards, requests for energy efficiency label certificates for the four new Kuwaiti energy efficiency standards can be submitted on the TABEK EER platform. Newly regulated products must be labeled with EER labels before the implementation date of March 1, 2025.

The old EER platform:

The original EER platform cannot be used for registration, as it is currently only used by PAI to retrieve data from previously registered EER certificates. Air conditioning EER applications that comply with KWS 1893 should also be processed on the new TABEK EER platform. The compliance requirements for air conditioning products remain unchanged.
