Saudi Arabia has released a new energy efficiency regulation for low capacity air conditioners: SASO 2663:2025- Minimum energy efficiency, labeling, and testing requirements for low capacity window air conditioners and single split air conditioners. The new regulation will come into effect on November 23, 2026.

Recently, the Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) released a new energy efficiency regulation for low capacity air conditioners: SASO 2663:2025- Minimum energy efficiency, labeling and testing requirements for low capacity window air conditioners and single split air conditioners. The new regulation will come into effect on November 23, 2026.

Compared to current regulations, the changes are as follows:

1. All categories of products have added the minimum requirements for SEER;

2. The T3 EER requirements for window air conditioners have been increased from 7.00 (≤ 24000Btu/h) and 6.20 (≥ 24000Btu/h and ≤ 65000Btu/h) to 7.20 (≤ 24000Btu/h) and 6.40 (≥ 24000Btu/h and ≤ 65000Btu/h);

3. Divided the types of split air conditioners and set different minimum energy efficiency requirements for fixed frequency or variable frequency, ducted or ductless air conditioners.
