New Zealand revised the Energy Efficiency (Energy Use Products) Regulations (2002), adding various product controls, which will come into effect on May 1, 2026.
On November 10, 2025, New Zealand announced the revision of the Energy Efficiency (Energy Use Products) Regulations (2002), which will come into effect on May 1, 2026.
This revision introduces or updates the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and Mandatory Energy Performance Labeling (MEPL) requirements for air conditioners/heat pumps, washing machines, dishwashers, rotary dryers, household refrigerators and freezers, three-phase squirrel cage induction motors, and external power sources with a power output of over 65 kW.
