The new national standard for energy efficiency and water efficiency of electric washing machines and integrated washing and drying machines will be enforced in April 2027!

GB 12021.4-2026 "Limiting Values and Grades for Efficiency and Water Efficiency of Electric Washing Machines and Integrated Washing and Drying Machines" will be implemented from April 1, 2027. This standard is a mandatory national standard, and products that do not meet the standard will be prohibited from production and sale.

According to the announcement of the State Administration for Market Regulation, GB 12021.4-2026 "Limiting Values and Grades of Efficiency and Water Efficiency for Electric Washing Machines and Integrated Washing and Drying Machines" will be officially released on March 31, 2026 and will be implemented from April 1, 2027. This standard is a mandatory national standard, and products that do not meet the standard will be prohibited from production and sale.

Main technological changes

The new standard replaces GB 12021.4-2013 "Limiting Values and Grades for Efficiency and Water Efficiency of Electric Laundry Machines". At present, the new version of the standard has not been officially released. According to the draft for soliciting opinions, compared with GB 12021.4-2013, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, there are mainly the following technical changes:

Expand the scope of application

The applicable products of the new version of the standard have added "washing and drying all-in-one machine", and relevant content has been added for multi drum washing machines and micro washing machines (with a rated washing capacity not exceeding 2.0kg). Deleted the phrase 'not applicable to agitator washing machines' and clarified that it is not applicable to' single bucket washing machines without dehydration function ',' washing machines that cannot wash cotton fabrics', 'pulsator washing and drying all-in-one machines', and' dry cleaning machines'.

According to the draft for soliciting opinions, the scope of application of the new standard has been expanded to washing machine products with a rated capacity not exceeding 25.0kg, while the current energy efficiency standard only applies to products with a washing capacity of 1kg (excluding) or more and 13kg (including) or less. This adjustment can cover large capacity commercial and household washing machines.

Adjust terminology definitions

Added definitions for "electric washing machine", "mini washing machine", "single drum washing and drying integrated machine", "standard washing program", "standard washing and drying program", "full load", "half load", and changed definitions for "rated capacity", "power consumption", "water consumption", "unit power consumption", and "unit water consumption"; The definitions of terms such as "working cycle", "half load capacity", "power consumption limit value", "washing machine energy efficiency level", "washing machine water efficiency level", and "allowable deviation of explicit values" have been deleted.

Significant improvement in energy and water efficiency indicators

Changed the energy efficiency and water efficiency levels of washing machines, added energy efficiency and water efficiency levels for micro washing machines and single drum washing and drying all-in-one machines, and changed the requirements for energy efficiency and water efficiency limit values.

Experimental method update

The testing method has been changed, such as replacing the testing load and detergent with domestic products in the new version of the standard, and shifting the testing focus from "full load" to "half load" mode. This not only effectively reduces the testing costs of enterprises, but also allows the testing data to fully fit the actual usage habits of domestic users.

Other content changes

For the first time, there is a limit on the duration of the washing program, specifying the maximum operating time for washing machines and integrated washing and drying machines.
Removed the requirement for energy-saving and water-saving evaluation values.
Added performance requirements for washing machines, single drum washing and drying integrated machines, and multi drum (barrel) products.
The inspection rules have been deleted.
Added appendix content.
