The first new national standard for infant and toddler complementary food machines will be officially implemented on May 1, 2026

Time:

2026-04-27

The first infant and toddler food machine standard GB/T 46491-2025 "Infant and toddler food machines" will be officially implemented on May 1, 2026, with regulations on key aspects such as safety, sterilization, noise, overall stability, blade corrosion resistance, insulation temperature, reservation time deviation, mixing performance, etc. It is applicable to the production, inspection, and sales of household infant and toddler food machines with single-phase rated voltage not exceeding 250V.

As the first product performance and safety standard for infant and toddler complementary food machines in China, the recommended national standard GB/T 46491-2025 "Infant and toddler complementary food machines" (hereinafter referred to as the new national standard for complementary food machines) will be officially implemented on May 1, 2026. The implementation of this standard will promote the improvement of the quality level of maternal and child home appliances, and safeguard the healthy growth of infants and young children.

The new national standard for complementary food machines focuses on key aspects such as safety, sterilization, noise, overall stability, blade corrosion resistance, insulation temperature, reservation time deviation, mixing performance, etc. It is applicable to the production, inspection, and sales of household infant and toddler complementary food machines with a single-phase rated voltage not exceeding 250V.

PART 1

Core Interpretation

The standard specifies the key performance of the product to better meet the needs of mother and baby. The insulation temperature of the complementary food machine should not be lower than 45 ℃ to ensure that the complementary food maintains a suitable taste and reduces nutrient loss. The particle size of food made by auxiliary food machines with steaming and cooking functions should not exceed 600 µ m, and products without steaming and cooking functions should not exceed 900 µ m, ensuring that the mixed ingredients are delicate and easily digested and absorbed. The bottom of the complementary food machine is flat and has sufficient grip, with a displacement of no more than 5mm, to prevent the product from shaking and tipping. Assess the corrosion resistance of the core component blade, extend the product's service life, and ensure safe use.

Strengthen product safety requirements with standards and protect maternal and child health with care. Technical requirements are proposed for the electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility of complementary food machines to avoid electrical safety risks, reduce electromagnetic interference, and minimize the impact on the external environment. For complementary food machines claiming to have sterilization functions, strict sterilization requirements are required, stipulating that the sterilization rate of the complementary food machine should not be less than 99.9%, effectively reducing health risks such as intestinal infections and diarrhea caused by harmful bacteria. Control the noise level of the complementary food machine within 82dB (A) to create a quiet and comfortable usage environment.

PART 2

标准

Standard requirements

Electrical safety:

The auxiliary food machine should comply with the requirements of GB/T 4706.1 and GB/T 4706.30. If the auxiliary food machine has cooking function, it should also comply with the requirements of GB/T 4706.19.

Electromagnetic compatibility:

Food dispensers should meet the requirements of GB 4343.1, GB/T 4343.2, GB 17625.1, and GB/T 17625.2.

Limit requirements for restricted substances:

The contents of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), pot (Cd), hexavalent chromium [Cr (V)], polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl tunneling (PBDE), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), and di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) in the homogeneous materials that make up the complementary food machine should comply with the requirements of GB26572

Sterilization:

For food dispensers claiming to have sterilization function, their sterilization rate should not be lower than 99.9%.

Volume deviation:

The deviation between the actual volume and the rated volume of the container used to hold food in the complementary food machine should be within ± 5%.

Noise:

The noise (sound power level) of the complementary food machine should not exceed 82dB (A).

Stability of the whole machine:

The bottom of the complementary food machine should be flat and have sufficient grip. When operating on a horizontal table, there should be no significant shaking, and the displacement within one functional cycle should not exceed 5mm.

Blade corrosion resistance:

The blade material of the complementary food machine should have corrosion resistance and should not exhibit cracks, corrosion, rust, or other phenomena.

Insulation temperature:

The insulation temperature of the auxiliary food machine with insulation function should not be lower than 45 ° C.

Appointment time deviation:

The auxiliary food machine with reservation function should have a reservation time deviation within ± 2%.

Mixing performance:

The particle size of food made by auxiliary food machines with steaming and cooking functions should not exceed 600 µ m.

The particle size of food made by auxiliary food machines without steaming function should not exceed 900 µ m.

The release of the new national standard for complementary food machines sets exclusive technical indicators for infant and toddler complementary food machines for the first time from the dimensions of mixing fineness, sterilization ability, overall stability, and material safety. It guides enterprises to conduct research and development and production according to unified technical requirements from the source, accelerates the elimination of outdated products that do not meet standard requirements, promotes enterprises to increase technology investment, optimize product design, and continuously innovate in material selection, sterilization technology, fine mixing, and noise reduction, promoting the overall quality level improvement of the industry.
