Volatile organic compounds, commonly referred to as VOCs, are the abbreviations of the first letter of the three words Volatile Organic Compounds, and total volatile organic compounds are sometimes also represented by TVOC.
According to the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO), VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are various organic compounds with a boiling point of 50°C to 260°C at room temperature. According to their chemical structures, they can be further divided into eight categories: alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons, alkenes, halogenated hydrocarbons, esters, aldehydes, ketones and others. ◉ Types of Volatile Organic Pollutants
There are many types of volatile organic compounds. Currently, there is no unified classification method, and the common classification is based on the nature of pollution sources. Mainly include the following:
(1) Organic solution. Organic solution is a solvent composed of organic matter as a medium. Common organic solutions include household cosmetics, shampoo products and detergents, as well as daily tools such as adhesives, paints, and aqueous coatings commonly used in life.
(2) Building materials. Building materials refer to some volatile odor materials used in construction projects, including coatings, plastic rice materials, foam insulation materials, artificial boards and other materials used in indoor and outdoor buildings.
(3) Interior decoration materials. Interior decoration materials refer to building interior coatings or other materials that are prone to volatile odors, including wall coatings, wallpapers, murals that are prone to volatile odors, and other materials.
